Football season is over and another one officially begins, one of free agency in NFL and recruiting in college football. Teams fight for the top recruits in the country to earn themselves a national championship, vying to hoist the trophy by the end of the season like Ohio State this season. With the 12-team playoff shaking up the field, now it is time to see where the future of college football goes from here. Without father ado, lets talk about our top 5 recruits.

#1: Bryce Underwood (QB) -Michigan
Bryce Underwood has the potential to be a franchise QB, he has good size and athletic ability. And paring that with his incredible arm strength, he becomes unstoppable. During his Senior season in high school Bryce threw for 2,509 passing yards with 32TDs while only throwing 6Ints. Thus leading his team to a 10-2 record and making it to the state semi finals. What has yet to be shown is his ability to compete for a starting job and his ability to stay on the field. Throughout Bryce’s high school career, he’s never had to fight for a starting gig, but coming into Michigan, he will have to compete against Mikey Keene and Jayden Davis for the opportunity to lead the Wolverines under center.” Bryce has the talent to be a top 5 pick. But, will his incredible high school talent translate to the collegiate gridiron? The Michigan faithful are anxious to find out, especially given the record NIL deal that he was offered to commit there.

#2: Keelon Russell (QB) - Alabama
Keelon Russell is an absolute freak of nature at the QB position. He is an elite playmaker that knows when to go for the big play, and is also one of the most accurate QBs in this year's class coming into college with a 70.8 percent completion percentage his senior season. This year Keelon had 4,1077 passing yards, 55TDs with only 4INTs. He is 100% a more college ready QB having played in a harder highschool division than Bryce Underwood, 6A D-1 in texas, and having put up better stats this year. However, his biggest problem is his frame. While he is 6’3 he is only 175 pounds, meaning that even though he is extremely talented we are left wondering what will happen if he takes one massive hit.

#3 Elijah Griffin (DL) Georgia
Elijah Griffin is an unstoppable force on the defensive side of the ball. Standing at 6’5 300 pounds, there were not many offensive lineman that could stop him from getting to their QB. He is a huge difference maker in the trenches and his stats show that. In 9 games he had 53 tackles (27 of which were TFLs) and 9.5 sacks. Griffin is definitely going to have to fight for a spot on this stacked Georgia defensive line led by head coach Kirby Smart with his strong defensive schemes, and is someone I wouldn't be surprised to see in the transfer portal in a few years given the competitiveness of that Georgia squad and the trust that Kirby has in his players. But he has the physical talent to be a power 4 starter and potentially a high NFL draft pick down the line.

#4 Tavien St. Clair (QB) - Ohio State
Tavien St. Clair has shown he can be an elite level playmaker with his size, mobility, and arm strength. Being 6”4 and 225 lbs, his elite level playmaking mixed with his insane arm talent is definitely something to worry about on the field. In his senior season he threw for 2,500 yards with 29TDs while only throwing 4ints and rushing for another 9TDs. St Clair has shown incredible talent but the same kind of challenge with him and Underwood is what we will have to see. How will they manage to fight for a starting spot or will he end up transferring after his freshman season out of frustration and want for playtime? On an Ohio State squad that loses Will Howard this year, questions about their QB situation have yet to be answered, but I suppose we will have to wait and see on that front.

#5 Devin Sanchez (CB) - Ohio State
Devin Sanchez is the definition of a freak of nature athlete, even more than Keelon Russell. Standing at 6’2 180 Sanchez might be the fastest CB in this recruiting cycle. In his senior season he had 5 picks while also running fast on the track, having a 10.69 second 100 yard dash and a 21.73 second 200 yard dash. On the football field Sanchez is insanely twitchy and has amazing field vision. I believe at Ohio state he should be a day one starter and would bring a lot of versatility to this Ohio State defense. He is already being projected as a 2028 first round pick compared to the likes of Sauce Gardner and Christian Gonzales, two stud CBs in the NFL. It will all come down to production within Ohio States incredible defense, but the bottom line is that Sanchez will be a huge pain for wide receivers in the Big-10 over the next couple years.
